Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release Approach, as taught by John Barnes PT, is a whole body, hands-on approach to the evaluation and treatment of the human structure. Fascia is incredibly tough connective tissue that spreads throughout the body. It is much like a web and extends from the head to toe without interruption.

When injuries occur, the fascia reorganizes along the lines of tension imposed upon it. From direct injury, accidents or unresolved restrictions from the birthing process, physical trauma can cause the fascia to tighten down to prevent further harm.

Most myofascial conditions go undiagnosed because all of the standard tests such as x-rays, myelograms, CAT scans and EMGs do not show fascial restrictions.

Myofascial release helps eliminate symptoms such as stiffness, pain, headaches, spasms and fibromyalgia. It also restores range of motion, thus removing the straitjacket of pressure caused by restricted fascia.

Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the physiological body system called the craniosacral system.

The craniosacral system’s parts are:

  • the menigeal membranes
  • the osseous structures to the menigeal membrane is attached.
  • the non-osseous connective tissue structures
  • structures related to production, resorption and containment of the cerebrosinal fluid

When trauma occurs, whether it’s mental, physical or emotional, we begin to posture ourselves in a protective splinted position. Our fascial tissue literally become a straightjacket.

Craniosacral therapy complements the body’s natural healing process. It is increasingly used as a preventive health measure because its ability to bolster resistance to disease; it is also effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain, trauma and dysfunction.

These two techniques can be and have been life changing for just about anyone who has ever experience them. One must really experience these therapies in order to comprehend their healing capabilities.
